I started brooding chicks in a farmer's group in 2018 to 2021, using only what I had learnt in theory. In 2021 I started brooding my chicks and selling them to farmers for laying eggs, but the mortality rate was high and at the end of 2021, I decided to attend training at the SILVERLANDS POULTRY TRAINING CENTRE (PTC) on how to brood chicks. The practical training helped me a great deal and after training I took 200 chicks and only had 3 mortalities. Since then I have taken 3 batches with no
mortality.

The brooding journey has been very different before I came to the
training center and received training. Now I know how to raise chickens
and am even able to identify If there is sufficient ventilation, light or air
in the chicken house. But what is also important is the protection of
my chickens against diseases. Before attending the training, I ignored
biosecurity, but after the training, I realized the protection of chickens
depends on it. But also the way I used to vaccinate was incorrect and
because of incorrect administering, I believe I was causing more harm
than protecting my chickens. I admit that coming to Silverlands
Poultry Training Center(PTC) has benifitted me and given me
confidence to improve.

Poultry farming is my main business and I am a brooder unit.
My poultry-keeping journey started a long time ago but it was
never successful until I came to training about 3 years ago. The
difference it has made is very big because now since I
graduated, I never had a batch with mortalities and the
challenges of diseases has decreased significantly.
Honestly Silverlands Poultry Training Center is the savior of my
business.
